Why gums recede
Gum recession can come from gum disease, hard brushing, grinding, or genetics. Once roots are exposed, teeth can feel sensitive and become more prone to decay and further recession.
How a gum graft works
We place healthy tissue over the exposed root, often using a connective tissue graft, and secure it so the gum can heal and reattach. The result protects the tooth and evens out the gumline.
Recovery
Most patients are comfortable with simple aftercare. We'll explain how to eat and clean the area while it heals, and sedation is available if you're anxious.
